Interclub Quiz
The club held an interclub quiz on Thursday 30th April. Competitors from Durham AC, Hadrian MSC, Hexham & DMC took part, along with some teams from Whickham. Ken Watson was the quiz master holding rounds for Geography, Films, Sport Music, History, Television Comedy, Motorsport and General Knowledge. all went well apart from the question "who was the actor who played the part of Corporal Jones in Dad's Army? Clive!!!" well that was half the answer given! and of course the res


Dogs Night
The club had a night out at Pelaw Grange dogs on 25th April. A small select group of 12 members and wives enjoyed an excellent Carvery dinner followed by a 14 race card. There was a lot of excitement as the dogs crossed the finish line, there were no great winners or losers, everyone enjoyed their evening. Many thanks to Audrey for organising this. What a weekend! Ken Watson and myself were out on Saturday marshalling on the Northumbrian Border Rally organised by Niall Cook and his aides from the Mini Cooper Register.
This rally is for Minis only ( won’t even accept my Riley Elf). 17 minis lined up at the Park Head hotel in Coundon for an afternoon of tests. These were at Brasside & Follingsby, Ken & I ran tests 4 & 8. After a halt for tea at Durham Rowing club, the crews took part in a 90 mile navigational event. It was a 6hr journey to get to the rally but Friday was a cracker of a day and it was a stunning drive up to get to the vast stages of Kinloss military base. It’s a venue we have both competed at before, and this was looking like the first dry event with consistent conditions since Chris began campaigning the Rally2 car. Roger Albert Clark Rally
We had some club members out on this rather gruelling event. Car 156 was crewed by Mark Tugwell and Phil Sandham the managed to finish a credible 39 overall Car 77 crewed by Nathan Bolton and past Club Chairman Phil Kenny unfortunately retired on SS 33 Car 80 was crewed by Phil Morton and Chris Dodds in their Mitsubishi Starion, they had various troubles through the event the car sustaing damage severe enough to prevent them competing on the final day. We had a good turn out for Ken's Kwiz on 23rd October, a number of our friends from Hexham & DMC came along. Ken has had this quiz on the shelf for a while hence the title December 2024, Nevertheless the questions were good, all car related. We also had a buffet and following that a raffle.
